Guiding Values
Below you’ll find the compass that guides me while guiding you.
-
I believe in radical truth - both as your guide and as a foundation for deep healing. I bring my full presence and honesty to our work, creating a space where you can explore your fears, dreams, and struggles without performing what therapy "should" look like. When we work from this place of authenticity, healing becomes something you wear in your body, not just concepts you understand in your mind.
-
The journeys I guide clients through reflect roads I've traveled myself - I'll never ask you to venture where I haven't been. My most profound connections often form with clients whose struggles mirror my own, creating a foundation of genuine understanding and transformation grounded in lived experience and clinical expertise.
-
Even when I share background or experiences with my clients, I remain deeply curious about their unique journey and perspective. I understand that shared experiences don't equate to identical meanings, and I honor each person's distinct story and truth.
-
I believe that true healing happens in the context of community and the relationships in our lives. I support interdependence and repair over individualism and cut-offs. My approach celebrates the courage to maintain meaningful connections while honoring personal boundaries.
-
I believe that we’re souls having a human experience and as such, both your human AND spiritual selves need to be cared for. In sessions, this might look like addressing wounds or current challenges while also addressing spiritual boundaries or ancestral trauma. I honor both the earthly and the divine aspects of your healing journey.
Beyond these guidelines, I practice and live from an anti-oppressive, gender-affirming and liberation-centered place, with specific commitment to combating anti-Black racism.
